Separation at the source and recycling


Grönsakshallen Sorunda began to sort waste in the middle of the 90’s and today has facilities for the sorting of waste consisting of wood, corrugated cardboard, paperboard, glass, metal, soft plastic, organic waste, fluorescent tubes, computer waste, batteries and other matter that may be burned or composted.

The Swedish Environmental Protection Agency’s goal for 2010 is that 35% of all organic waste be recycled through digestion or methane fermentation composting. At present Grönsakshallen Sorunda sorts more than 99% of all its organic waste. This waste is utilized in manure processing.
